Leaders make choices, victims don't.

A leader can't be a victim. Yet many would-be leaders have lived for years, carefully nurturing a victim mentality.

They have allowed themselves to be victimized by their circumstances.

Why?

Because it can be nice to be a victim.

It absolves you from any responsibility for the outcome of your life. But this isn't the path of a great leader, and

you can be a great leader.

A leader doesn't give life permission to determine his/her future, though they encounter circumstances just as we all do. In life, you will find that leaders live in the Realm of Choices, while everyone else lives in the Realm of Circumstance.

A leader won't want to hear about your circumstances if you're not prepared to spend just as much time telling him/her about the choices you made.

Why?

Because leaders live by choice, not by accident.

You may say that there are times when you have absolutely no choice, but even then you do. Even when you have no control on the things going on around you, you can control what is going on inside of you. That's right, I'm

talking about your ATTITUDE.

It's a little overwhelming to consider that every attitude you have ever had, you CHOSE.  You can't choose your circumstances, but you can always choose your attitude towards those circumstances. When you're angry, it's because you choose to be angry. When you're happy, it's because you choose to be happy.

Don't ever let your life's circumstances dictate your attitude, knowing that so many times the attitude you choose will begin to dictate your life circumstances. Cherish your right to be happy, peaceful, and joyful.

Stuck in a tough situation? Begin by making the choice to maintain a positive attitude. In every corner, crack, and crevice lurks an excuse for you to pick up. Life is full of them. I don't believe the world supply of excuses will ever run short, and if you're in the market, you certainly won't have to worry about finding some to justify why you just can't succeed in life.

If you want to be a leader, you're going to have to stay out of the corners, where excuses live. You're going to have to be willing to take a long hard look at why you are where you are.

Be careful, once you open the door for excuses to come into your life, they will be sure to invite the whole family in with them. You are able to accomplish far more than you ever thought possible, but you'll never realize your potential in the presence of excuses.
