In this 3-part teaching series, Mark helps us understand how that the “carnal man” is controlled from the Outside-In.  The Body wants something that appeals to one or more of its 5 senses.  The Body tells the Soul what it wants, and the Soul controls the Spirit.  In other words, this explains how our 5 senses get us in trouble!

But, the Bible teaches us to be controlled by the Spirit.  So, if we are aligned properly with God and His Word, we won’t be controlled from the Outside-In, but rather, we are controlled from the Inside-Out.  God’s Holy Spirit leads our Spirit, which then controls our Soul, which controls our Body.  That’s why we need to be “Inside-Out”.

The Apostle Paul said that he kept his body under control, causing it to do what he told it to do, against its will.  This was an example of being controlled from the Inside-Out, to allow God’s Holy Spirit to control our Spirit, which controls our Soul, which controls our Body.

Galatians 5 contains 2 lists: The Works Of The Flesh and The Fruit Of The Spirit. 

If you see the Works Of The Flesh in your life, that means that you are controlled Outside-In, because the Body (flesh) is in control, not the Spirit.  But, if you see the Fruit Of The Spirit in your life, then you are properly aligned, being controlled Inside-Out, God’s Spirit controlling your Spirit, which controls your Soul, which controls your Body.
